Six days ago Rosi and Veronica journeyed the grueling 16 hour bus ride to come and help Deanna do the Acampamento Kids retreat. Their bus was not robbed but just a few days earlier a Trans-Braziliano bus was held up along this route. The bandits hit people and hurt them when they did not have enough money. This is unusual. The bus driver apparently told the people on the bus, “You have to bring more money for the bandits.” This is the road Rosi, her two children, and Veronica are travelling home on today.
Twelve years ago Dave Pardee brought a team to Brazil. Rosi, a non-Christian teenager, had just started working for us. While Dave’s team was here she gave her heart to Jesus. Her husband Kenim soon followed her example. Then other members of their family started getting saved. Now they are almost all Christians, and many of them are in leadership roles in various churches. This was twelve years ago. Rosi remembers when Deanna and Isabella got hepatitis right after Isabella was born. After Rosi quit her job with us to stay home and raise her own small children her sister-in-law Veronica came to work for Deanna. Rosi and Kenim are now senior pastors and Veronica and Marcinho are lay leaders in their church.
